Kaiser K9:

More than a name.

A legacy.

It started with a love story, a shared passion, and a dream.

Emily Kaiser and Stephanie Kaiser met in 2015 as bed bug detection K9 Handlers. By the end of the year, they would be married and starting their first business venture training pet and working dogs. Giving back to the community, they focused on fostering many high-risk dogs for shelters and rescues in the Baltimore and Mid-Atlantic region. In 2018, empowered to address the national detection dog shortage, they began their Labrador Retriever breeding program under the name Kaiser K9. In 2019 their program was involved in the first year of the AKC Patriotic Puppy Program, part of the AKC Detection Dog Task Force. Their breeding program ended in 2021, culminating in four highly successful litters of AKC-registered working Labrador Retrievers through collaborations with TK Hot Retrievers of Idaho and Three Cedars Retrievers of Pennsylvania.
After donating so many of these puppies to non-profits and government agencies, including Massachussets Task Force 1, the Penn Vet Working Dog Center, and National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, Emily and Stephanie found a new way to answer the call for service…

Meet the Co-Founders

A shared passion for service and dog training drove Emily and Stephanie Kaiser to incorporate a new venture that would put community and animal welfare above profits.
In 2021, the non-profit Kaiser K9, Inc was born with those values at heart.

    Bio:
Emily has always had a passion for dogs and their ability to give back to the community. In the early 2010s, she began volunteering with her dog Liliana at the Children’s Home in Baltimore where, as a team, they received a Community Service Award. After a decade of working in veterinary medicine, and driven to learn more, she enrolled at a school for dog trainers where she found a passion for developing drive and motivation in dogs. As a Bed Bug Detection K9 Handler, she certified with 2 K9s. Emily looks forward to always seeking to learn more and develop working dogs who are as passionate and motivated as she is to serve. Emily brings a robust education in non-profit leadership through her university studies and cooperative programs and, in her role as President, maintains the direction of the organization’s core values.

    Bio:

Stephanie’s love of working dogs started in high school when she raised her first puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind in the early 2000s- the puppy, Bubba, was considered an honorary member of her graduating class. Soon after, she would raise 2 more puppies for GDB. All 3 puppies completed the full training program to become Guide Dogs, and Stephanie began an internship at GDB to learn more about training service dogs. After graduating from dog trainer school, she worked as a pet dog trainer, managing individual and group classes as well as other trainers. But her passion was always in working dogs, and she happily accepted a trainer position with a hearing and service dog organization now known as Service Dogs Inc. Stephanie found her training spark reignited when she was offered a position as K9 Training Manager for a bed bug detection company where she managed all operational K9-handler teams and herself certified with 5 different K9s. Stephanie’s goal-driven attitude has always produced results when it comes to encouraging teams to train hard and meet goals, and she brings those same drives and skills to the team at Kaiser K9, Inc. As the Director of Operations, Secretary, and Treasurer, Stephanie keeps the organization running and on task with her decades of operational experience.
